Deirdre Sheehan

Deirdre graduated from University College Dublin in 2010. She began her career in mixed practice in Co Monaghan before moving to Tipperary in 2013.
After developing a strong interest in small animal cardiac cases, she spent time honing her ECG and echocardiography skills before going on to complete a General Practitioner Certificate in Small Animal Cardiology in 2018. Thereafter she began accepting cardiology referrals from across Ireland, as well as running a first opinion cardiology service.
In 2023 she went on to complete an Advanced GP Certificate in Cardiology, making her one of the first vets in Ireland and the UK to hold this qualification.
She is a long-standing member of the Veterinary Cardiovascular Society (UK) and the European Society of Veterinary Cardiology, regularly attending international conferences to stay at the forefront of new developments.
Deirdre’s main interests are Doppler echocardiography, thoracic ultrasound (POCUS/TFAST) and the management of emergency cardiorespiratory cases.
Laura Mang

Laura graduated from Ludwig-Maximilians-University, Munich in 2013. She spent the following two and a half years in the university’s cardiology department under world-respected Prof. Dr. Gerhard Wess, where she gained extensive experience in both referral patients and large-scale clinical studies, including Europe’s largest investigation into Doberman dilated cardiomyopathy. During this time, she also taught and supervised final-year veterinary students and completed her doctoral thesis on early detection biomarkers for Doberman DCM.
Since then, Laura has worked in small animal practices in Germany and Ireland, providing cardiology services for both first opinion and referral cases. Alongside cardiology, she has a strong interest in internal medicine and abdominal ultrasound, and in 2022 she obtained her General Practitioner Certificate in Small Animal Medicine. Laura is also a member of the Veterinary Cardiovascular Society (UK) and the European Society of Veterinary Cardiology.
Her clinical focus remains echocardiography, ECG interpretation (including Holter monitoring), and the integration of cardiology within wider internal medicine.
